Of Covers and Music

Hi! My dear humans, I guess you need a break from all my schooling and Prefect problems right? Well I need a break from them too :)

I guess I don't really have anything to say. 


For those who stalk me continuously without me knowing (YES, I'm talking about YOU!) You must've noticed that I haven't posted a cover with my babe for so, so long. I know. 


Its not that we don't want to. We made a list of songs we're gonna do on our playdate :) We're gonna do lots of songs in one freaking day. And the bloopers are gonna be super hilarious :D 


But we were talking about the dust collecting on out channel one day. And Joyanne said that it was okay for me to post covers on my own. Of course, that naturally freaked me, the-one-without-the-nice-voice out. But I've been practicing on my voice... And by practicing I mean singing really loud in the shower and playing guitar in the middle of the night. 


So, I did a cover. Well, not exactly did. More like experimenting on my own. And the end result was really scary, like seriously. I sang Knockin' On Heaven's Door - Bob Dylan because I love that song. And... Throughout the video, I looked seriously pissed and Emo. I can explain, I was focusing on controlling my voice, until I forgot to control my face. Oh dear. How sad. 


So... I'm actually debating with myself, wether I should post the video on Youtube or not. Its not very very good. And I assume that I can do better... But I don't really have time to record videos too. 


So...


How?


I don't know. We see how it goes first. And of course, everything depends on my mood and I'm currently suspecting I'm PMS-ing. Oh well. Female problems. Males will never understand. 


Uhhh. Yeah, I was supposed to be studying, instead, I took crazy pictures of myself. 

Uhhh. Yeah. I just washed my hair and it felt good to do that :P

I Love this Native American Headband :) Mum calls me crazy when I wear it. 

I hope I'll get the skill to make nice covers for ya'll, solo. Even though I love my babe so much :)

I love this song. It just means so much. Even though I'm not clear on what it means exactly. But the message in the few verses were clear: STOP WAR

And of course, you might've noticed the song up here in my blog is the one I'm talking about. And the boy singing it is called Christian Palencia. He's so talented and I have a huge crush on him. I don't know about his heritage, but I'm guessing he's Orang Asli (native Malaysian) or something like that. I would like to interview him :)

I requested it for my birthday. He actually did a cover! I said:

it would be ozumer if you did Knocking On Heaven's Door with it :) I request it for my birthday tomorrow. It would make my sweet 16th complete :P My name is Noel Ng

And I nearly fainted in delight when I found this video on my birthday the next day:

Bloopers

Hey Humans! Me and my bestie edited all of our silly mistakes into a video (well, I did all the work). Its funny. And silly. 

Just enjoy :)

A few days before, in school, I passed by an afternoon session teacher, with my usual skip-and-bounce.

Naturally, I said cheerfully: 'Hi, teacher!' And I flashed her my silly-happy smile. 

Teacher replied: 'Hi, Noel.' And she said: 'Wah. You everyday also so happy happy one ah. Why ah?'

Me being in a cheerful and silly mood replied: 'Because there is nothing to be sad about!'

The teacher thought about my words for a while, and she said: 'Yeah. You're right. I should learn from you.'

Recalling back this short conversation, it has reminded me to be happy. Because life is good. God makes my life very good. 

I have lots of things to be sad about. But I'll try not to be sad. 

I may be losing my grip on my beautiful dreams. But I will keep moving forward. 

I'm still feeling weird.

Hey, Humans! Happy June :) I like June a lot. Mainly because it starts with a J and July starts with a J too and I feel like they're sisters. Also because the name feels sunny :)

So, we just had a sleepover with them Shelvin, Joyanne, Ashley, Dhipa and Raja (through Skype) and it was epic! I'll blog about it as soon as I upload the photos :)

We did a cover of Payphone - Maroon 5 feat. Wiz Khalifa during the second day. It was spontaneous. We downloaded the lyrics online, stuck it to Ashley's skinny legs and just sang. So of course, I forgot the lyrics halfway. :P Of course there were some pitch problems by me too. I don't know why. I just can't sing the chorus properly cause it goes high suddenly and I'm like, low. <--?

Anyway, we had fun singing it. Although Shelvin and Dhipa kept giggling at Kuha who was on the computer. And we had to retake (It was always when I was on pitch) many times because of that... But hey, it was okay. I'm only the one who messes up the lyrics. Silly me .

I've realized I'm not posting anymore stories. I haven't written one for ages. Now, its all just music music music. I'm disappointed in myself. I should write more. I've been collecting ideas, but no plots. Even if I start, I know it'll end up unfinished because I can't get a good plot out of it. I've also been reading lots of material. Let's just hope something comes out from it :P

Malam Bakat 2012

If you've read my post Bliss, you know Malam Bakat this year was epic :D It really was. So, I'm gonna blog in detail what happened. :) I'm a month late. Sorry.

If you're lazy to read all this (I hope you're not), here's a video of us singing. Just a short recording by Al's brother. But nevertheless, its on youtube. The sound's pretty clear.

I cannot explain the feeling of being on stage. I just forget myself and instinct takes over. Tambourine ribbon gets in your eyes? Throw it away. See the Principal sitting in front of you? Scream out his name. Hear the screams of support from your friends? Point at their direction and smile at them. Hears Joyanne's mike is too soft? Sing LOUDER!

I just wanna go onstage and sing, sing, sing again!

Malam Bakat 2012 Auditions

Hey Humans! Waddup yow? Life is getting more and more interesting... :D I'll blog about the Malam Bakat Auditions which happened 3/4/12

So yes, I'm in Malam Bakat again. Some of you may be clueless on what I'm talking about. Well, this Malam Bakat event means Talent Night in English. Basically, students go and compete and show their talent up on stage. How could I miss out on that?? This event started last year and my band, The Black Roses took part in it. We were horrid. Honestly. The sound system crashed our performance. But, it was really fun.

My so-called-'band', is called The Black Roses. You can see us here. Being idiots. :P

Performance!

It was considerably okay. Nah, just kidding. It sucked like hell. My mike didn't work. :[ *sigh* Its okay. Its past already.

Don't ask me why I'm wearing so much makeup. Just ask Ashley's mum. I think we have a different view on the word 'touch-up'

After the performance, we didn't win. :P But, ah well.

Of course, we took crazy pictures too. But beware, my make-up is horrendous. I look like an evil witch. Seriously. I prefer the one I originally have, which my mum did on me but I still like myself makeupless. 

Err, yeah. That was 2011's Malam Bakat. It was pretty awesome. We had fun!

So, about this year's auditions... 

I couldn't believe Joyanne was late during the auditions! Grrr. The whole world was waiting for her RM7000 keyboard! And I was waiting for her. But she turned up, in the end. Said she was too sleepy.

Anyways, on the day, we were nervous and excited. Joyanne was nervous. I was more to excited. I'm always like that before I perform. Us being Prefects, we got to sneak and watch other people's performances. 

The Auditions were split into two days. The first one for Musical stuff and other stuff, whereas the second day is for dancing groups and crews. Too many people dance. 

There was one band, V7, which was AWESOME. Most of the band members were in another band, called Freedom last year. They were good. But this year, they were better. I'm so jealous. Cause I know how hard it is to make a band, practice a song, make it flawless and etc. They performed some Chinese Song. They sound good (probably because they got mentored by Nickson, Joyanne's ex-piano teacher). They have an awesome singer (Champion of the Chinese Singing Competition last year), and the electric guitarist has PEDALS. I hate you, Nicholas! 

There was another band (I forgot the name), they were... Not so good.  They were messy and disorganized. It made me wince to see their performance. They performed Pumped Up Kicks- Foster The People. I won't say they killed the song, but it was close. But, they had a violin! That was cool. Yeah. 

Umm... Lots of people sang, but they were okay. None of them really really stood out, so yeah.

After watching V7's audition, they were really bummed because Nicholas couldn't perform his solo, which was situated at the end of the song. We instantly decided we should change up our audition song, Price Tag- Jessie J feat. B.o.B. (but we didn't rap). We hyped up my strumming, and we cut the song. One full verse, pre-chorus and chorus. We did that cause we wanted to perform a full song and not get stopped like V7 did. 

And guess what?

We did not get stopped at all!

Oh my goodness. As we were singing, I think the look on teacher's faces meant: enjoyment? I don't know. But I felt adrenaline after the performance. Which was awesome. :]

Only flaw in our performance was, Joyanne was too soft. That idiot mike guy put hers too high. So she either chose to sing, or to play. So she sang. But she simply played the keyboards. I heard, but the show must go on right? :D

We were satisfied. 

Well, its like Friday now, you must be wondering if we have gotten through or not. You might not be wondering. Cause you may think I'm showing off. Okay lah. I am. A little bit. But hey. Its my blog. 

WE GOT THROUGH!!!

I'm really psyched! :D I can already imagine what our performance would be like. Of course, we have to practice. 

I'm still wondering what we could do with a guitar and a keyboard... My Humans got any ideas? I want our performance to be young, fun, energetic, loud and sound nice! 

We're considering options here. I won't tell you what it is... Keeping the element of surprise! :D 

Umm... And we have to think of what to wear. Hmm... Hippy? Rocker? I don't know. 

I'm so excited now I'm jumping all around my room. #LikeALunatic

Well, all I'm asking for you guys here, is to wish me Super Good Luck! Nah, just hope my beret doesn't fall off. And I hope we don't do anything stupid. Or get kicked off the competition entirely. Maybe even win the RM400? LOL. Not happening. Music will never win. 

Ah well. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, right?
