Down the Rabbit Hole

I spent July 1st in Tokyo. My Father, being the best Baba in the world, found a little Alice-In-Wonderland-Themed restaurant called Alice's Fantasy Restaurant to celebrate my birthday there because he knows I love the story.

Fun fact: Someone gave me a doll when I was younger and I named her Alice because she was wearing a blue dress. I used to talk to Alice all the time. Alice lost her shoes and is now getting bald.

I dressed up for the event. I even wore a pair of vintage wedges I got from a thrift shop because I'm officially an 'adult' now. Hah. I took it off straight after lunch because we had to walk very very very far to get to places in Tokyo and there was this huge-ass boil on my toe but I don't want to scar you for life.

I got that Alice ribbon from Disneyland (more on that soon!)
It's kind of a magical place. We had to go down to B3 to get to this cafe, just like going down the rabbit hole. They have lots and lots of Alice in Wonderland themed decorations there too, from the tiny 'Drink Me' and 'Eat Me' bottles, to the Red Queen's maze and also original illustrations from Lewis Carroll's book.

This book I'm holding is actually one of their menus. SO NICE RIGHT. I was just constantly fangirling as I explored the place.

And the food! I usually don't trust the food in themed cafes/restaurants because they absolutely destroy the taste of the food just to make it suit the theme *cough* hellokittycafe *cough* but the food here was surprisingly good. Japanese people never disappoint us tastebud-wise. I kind of forgot all the names for the food so bear with me as I make them up spontaneously.

Salad.

Weirdly shaped pizza that was hard to share.

Crossed-eyed Cheshire Cat meat loaf with mashed potato and completely useless whiskers and sauce teeth

this is supposed to be a rabbit and you're supposed to drizzle it over the salad

This tasted weird. Don't order this. But the plate sure is nice.

And behold, my birthday cake. It's cheesecake, with raspberry jam and whipped cream. I was pretty disappointed they didn't sing the Unbirthday Song to me, damn.

Hello, other desserts which were sugar and carbs

A big thank you to my family for celebrating my birthday in Tokyo with me. I'm such a blessed girl.

So I did some googling research, and I found out that this cafe/restaurant is actually a chain restaurant. And in it's other branches in Ginza/Kichibucho, the waitresses actually come to your table to entertain you with song and dance. Damn. All we got was a birthday song. And that was because it was my birthday.

In conclusion, if you want to go there, go there at night, and perhaps don't go to the branch under the Shinjuku station. (THEY SERVE COCKTAILS AT NIGHT WTH). And don't ask me for the address, It wasn't in the first 3 results on google. I'm lazy. I can't find it on the internet

There you have it.

Down the rabbit hole.

A Very Merry Unbirthday to you.

I make no promises in blogging about the rest of Tokyo.
